Interior Design AZURE, Michamvi Zanzibar

The Azure Zanzibar project proposes the development of a tourist resort made up of holiday homes and complementary functions, located on the seashore. Inspired by the local philosophy “Hakuna Matata” (“no worries”), the ensemble offers a relaxing experience integrated into the natural landscape of Zanzibar island.

The resort has a pavilion-like organization and includes holiday homes with 1–3 bedrooms, located on land or on water, each with a private pool. Complementary facilities include two restaurants, a spa with gym, an open-air cinema, gardens for local ingredients, communal pools, and administrative areas. The architecture combines rustic and contemporary elements, making use of traditional materials and techniques—exotic wood, local masonry, makuti roofs, microcement finishes, and handcrafted furniture—for authenticity and sustainability.

The project integrates green solutions adapted to the climate and geography: solar panels, water collection and recycling, desalination, biodigester systems for energy and fertilizers. Thus, Azure Zanzibar becomes a model of responsible tourism and sustainable temporary living, in harmony with nature and local culture.
